Dear Parents, Hello, my name is Julie Szeto, and I am the Director of the EdgeCamp. For over two decades, I have dedicated my career to working with children from preschool through college-age students. My passion lies in connecting with people and sharing God's love with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Engaging with children and young adults and making a positive impact on their lives brings me immense joy.
At the age of seventeen, I had the privilege of leading and serving in a summer program, which further ignited my passion for working with children. Subsequently, I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Director of Christian Education (DCE) with a specialization in Youth and Family from Concordia University, Irvine, California. This education has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to serve as a Youth and Family Program Director at various churches. My roles included Hope Lutheran Church in Daly City, California (1997-98), True Light Lutheran Church in Manhattan, New York (2001-2003), and Our Savior Lutheran Church (OSL) in Fremont, California (2005-2014).
In Fremont, I established OSL Summer Camp, securing a state license to operate summer programs from the very beginning. Our journey began with a small group of children, and through unwavering dedication and hard work, we successfully expanded our group to nearly 100 enthusiastic participants. OSL Summer Camp thrived for nine enriching years, during which our team consistently earned recognition as the BEST summer program in Fremont for numerous occasions. When my husband was called to serve as a pastor at Zion in San Francisco, our family made the decision to leave OSL Summer Camp in 2015.
For over ten years, my family and I have been devoted members of Zion Lutheran Church. Since the summer of 2016, I have been the Director of the EdgeCamp, and I am committed to maintaining the same level of enthusiasm and dedication. With my exceptional leadership team, The EdgeCamp offers an exceptional summer experience for campers. Each year, we strive to create unforgettable memories, and countless parents have praised our program for its creativity and balance.
